Ro/Ro shipping is a transportation service provided for self propelled cargo on Ro/Ro carrier vessels.

What is a Ro/Ro carrier vessel?

A Ro/Ro carrier vessel is a ship that has special inclines (ramps) constructed to enable vehicles to drive on and off the vessel using the vehicle’s own power. This is the safest, easiest, and most convenient way to transport drivable vehicles across continents.

The vehicles are driven inside the vessel at the port of departure and driven outside at the port of arrival. Lifting port cranes are not used, which is not always the case with other services such as containers, OOG (Out of Gauge), breakbulk, or LO/LO (Lift on/Lift off) ocean services.

In the 1970s, due to large volumes of automobiles being shipped from Japan to North America, a Japanese ocean carrier built its first carrier vessel to carry over 4200 vehicles across the oceans. This is how we carry your vehicles to Brazil.

VEHICLE IMPORTATION REGULATIONS

Vehicle importation to Brazil has some restrictions. All vehicles must manifest the make, model, color, year, engine CC, Serial/VIN Number, actual weight, as well as the number of axles for High and Heavy commodities.

For all vehicle importation, all importers must have these vehicles custom cleared with their preferred custom broker, if you don’t have one Cargomax international can help you by recommending a good custom broker in Brazil. All vehicles must be imported, cleatred and registered with Brazilian authorities.
