What is a Ro/Ro carrier vessel?

A Ro/Ro carrier vessel is a ship that has special inclines (ramps) constructed to enable vehicles to drive on and off the vessel using the vehicle’s own power. This is the safest, easiest, and most convenient way to transport drivable vehicles across continents.

The vehicles are driven inside the vessel at the port of departure and driven outside at the port of arrival. Lifting port cranes are not used, which is not always the case with other services such as containers, OOG (Out of Gauge), breakbulk, or LO/LO (Lift on/Lift off) ocean services.

VEHICLE IMPORTATION REGULATIONS

Vehicle importation to Guyana has some restrictions. All vehicles must manifest the make, model, color, year, engine CC, Serial/VIN Number, actual weight, as well as the number of axles for High and Heavy commodities.
